|
We offer a high quality 1:1capsule reskinning
for a large quantity of classic european condenser mics.
After the years all microphone capsules tend to loose
their performance.
The membrane material either Mylar or PVC material changes
it`s tension because of the evaporation of plasticisers,
the gold splutters & depending on the use some capsules
get covered with dirt, dust or other particles in some
years or if treated right in some decades.
But despite all caution all microphones attract particles
because of the polarisation voltage which causes this
electrostatic attracion effect.
Here are some answers on FAQ :
-Is there a sound difference between
new and reskinned capsules?
No!
The capsules provide the same performnance like brandnew
ones!
-Does my microphone sound the same after replacing/reskinnig
the capsules?
No!
It will sound like factory new! A old polluted capsule
normally gets a little weak in the high frequencies
because dirt and dust makes the menbrane heavier. This
higher weight results in a loose of sensitivty for higher
frequencies.
-Are you able to rekin Nickel Caps?
Yes!
- How long must i wait for a reskin?
We have common types like K87,K67,K47,M7
in stock which are immediately ready to replace your
old worn out one. If you don`t want a exchange capsule
or your type isn`t in stock at the moment the delivery
time is about 4 weeks.
-Do you also use PVC for reskinning?
All our replacement/reskin
capsules use Mylar and are produced to the original
specs of the manufacturer.
The company Neumann started their M7 production using
PVC material but switched over to Mylar very quickly
because of the big advantages of this new material.Gefell
continued with PVC for their capsule production. So
there are M7 capsule types-an Mylar M7(West Germany)
and a Pvc M7 (East Germany).
-Do i have to pay for removal and assembly?
No!
The capsule service includes the removal of the broken
capsule, the assembling of the new reskinned one and
a testrun of the microphone. Testing of the electronics,
Psu, leads etc. are not covered within the price.

Neumann M269c

|
This is clearly one of the most recognizable microphones
around, seen in countless music videos, ads and album covers.
There are four Neumann models that exist within this beautiful package,
they are: the U67, M269, M367 and U87.
In 1960, Neumann introduced the U67 as the
successor to the infamous U47, the improvements were smaller components
which allowed for a more streamlined, tapered body design, the ability
to now choose from three instead of two polar (pickup) patterns,
a bass roll-off filter and a 10 dB pad. However, all tube mics (with
the exception of the U47) had to conform to the German radio Braun
Buch or Brown Book standards or they couldn't be used for broadcast.
The U67, which used an EF-86/6267 pentode tube, was found to be
too noisy and unacceptable, so in 1962 Neumann introduced the "improved"
M269 which used the AC-701 tube instead.
This change made the mic quieter, impart less distortion and had
more overall presence. In addition to this difference, the 269 can
only be switched to cardioid from the mic, the Omni and Figure-eight
settings were replaced with the letter "F" which in these
settings make the mic remotely controlled from the power supply.

Neumann U87 from 1974`

|
In 1966, Neumanns design team was asked to create
a solid-state version of the U67.
The transistorized U87 was launched in 1967.The U87 uses a K87 capsule
that is acoustically identical to the K67 capsule in the U67 and
does not require an external power supply.
This original U87 has a internal battery compartment housing two
22.5-volt batteries as an alternative to phantom power, as phantom
power was not universally available in late sixties

The total
amount of U48s that were made was less than 10% of the U47s! The U48
came rather late, and just for a few years between1957-1965.So the
U48 is even more rare than the sought after U47 microphone. Set to
cardioid the U48 is identical to the U47. The U48 just offers a figure
8 pattern e.G for MS use. Quite often people talk about a U47 when
they actually have a U48 in hand.

Neumann KM53c

|
The KM 53 was launched in 1953 and was the first
" Omni" small condenser mic with integrated out-transformer-using
the special Mic tube "AC701".
The microphone was used at Abbey road for general
recording or for special use in - picking up the reverb in echo
rooms: A Neumann KM53 omnidirectional mic was placed at one end
of the room, while at the other end, pointing slightly upwards and
towards a corner, there was a Tannoy 15-inch dual-concentric speaker......
The Decca Tree technique first came out of Decca
Records studio's and there research and experimentation in stereo
techniques in the mid 50's. Over the years different microphones
have been used including Omni-directional and cardioid patterns.
Some of the original microphones used were Neumann KM56, M201, M49,
KM53, and the M50.

Hiller M69

|
The Hiller pencil microphone was developed at the
NWDR Radiostation in the late 40s, early 50s, the same place that
developed the M49.
It is truly rare today.
It was the smallest condensor microphone of its time, and is still
remarkably small today, due to the transformer and electronics being
in a seperate case.
The micbody consists essentially of the tube and
the capsule.
The tube is a Hiller MSC2, the precedessor of the AC701.
The Hiller M69 has a high headroom (The transformer can be larger
than usually possible in a pencil mic) and a nice frequency response.
This particular microphone has a reskinned nickel capsule and comes
with a new power supply.

Neumann KM 53

|
The KM 53 was
launched in 1953 and was the first " Omni" small condenser
mic with integrated out-transformer-using the special Mic tube "AC701".

Neumann M50

|
"Ultra-Rare" Neumann M50 with new Psu
and swivel mount
The British record label Decca came up with a newtechnique
called the Decca tree. They start with a very widely spaced pair
of Neumann M50's.
The M 50 is a pressure-type microphone with non-directional characteristics.
It is made up of a tightly stretched metal diaphragm mounted in
a lucite ball. Its response rises slightly and it becomes increasingly
more directional at higher frequencies when exposed to direct sound,
but it remains flat in a diffused sound field.
(The M 49 microphones may be identified by a red jewel, the types
M 50 by a white one-Fewer than a thousand M 50s were made!)
